Would be so nice to have the virtual shifting for the Direto XR.
I hope we don’t get forgotten about and forced to buy a newer trainer. Also the 10hz mode I imagine can implemented with a firmware update if the hardware allows. I guess we will see in the next few weeks

As far as I can tell, the virtual shifting is Elite's own with the new Square, controlled by their app, and doesn't work with Zwift's virtual shifting. But it is still virtual shifting.

That said the controllers on the bars resemble zwift play buttons? Surely the virtual shifting has to be zwift compatible?

Elite's web page mentions the buttons controling Zwift and specifically mentions Zwift Play. So I assume the buttons work like Zwift Play for controlling the UI etc. But the virtual shifting is different and is Elite's own solution via their Square app.

good work Steve.

Re the direto I find that by lowering the TD on zwift I can get away with utilising just 3 gears. Middle rear ring for vast majority of riding (also the straightest line between front and rear rings), one down for sprinting, one up for climbing.

I do like the clunk of a manual gear change but.....the belt drive does appeal

Hopefully good news!!

The Zwift Ride frame can be mounted on any smart trainer that supports Zwift’s virtual shifting. Here’s the current list of compatible trainers:

JetBlack Victory
Wahoo KICKR CORE
Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One
Wahoo KICKR Gen 6 (2022)
Wahoo KICKR Move
Zwift Hub Classic
Zwift Hub One

In addition to the list above, two more “Zwift Ready” trainers will be arriving soon:

Elite Direto XR with Zwift Cog and Click
VAN RYSEL D100 with Zwift Cog and Click

Does this mean I can do a firmware upgrade of my DiretoXR already and buy the zwift ride frame? Or do we have to wait?

I asked on Elite's Facebook page about a firmware update for existing Direto XR owners, and this is what they said:

Currently, this is the only compatible version. We have a firmware update for the Direto XR / XR-Ts on our schedule, aiming to make them Zwift Ready by the end of the year.
