Freehub not always engaging with flywheel

Hi - my freehub starts out being engaged but whenever I freewheel or pedal backwards, the hub disengages and I need to pedal forward slowly for the freehub to re-engage. Please advise if you've had a similar issue and how it was resolved.

This recently started happening for me, after 3 years of owning the trainer. I only use the trainer in the winter, so recently jumped on to ride and the hub would not engage after freewheeling. I can get it to engage by slowly pedaling but it's inconsistent.

This has also recently started happening to me, I've opened a support ticket. Have you managed to find a solution?

edit: I'VE FIXED IT! Here is the solution for anyone else having this problem.

The cause for me was excessive grease gunking up the freewheel 'ratchets', little metal sprung clips that get pushed down when pedalling in reverse, but which pop up and engage onto the flywheel when pedalling forwards. Mine were so sticky with grease that they weren't popping back up properly, and so were half-biting and then the pressure was making them give way. That's also why slowly pedalling solves it, you're giving the sprung clips more time to unstick and pop back up.

To solve it, remove the cassette using this tool: https://www.shopelite-it.com/en/sensors ... o-xr-suito

Then if your sprung clips are all sticky, clean them carefully with some degreaser, I kept the cassette cone pointing upwards so that degreaser didn't get into the inner workings of the freewheel. Clean up with some paper towel, soak up all the degreaser, the sprung clips should now pop up really snappy. Degunk the inside of your flywheel as well, then reassemble. Mine now bites perfectly, and the ratchet noise sounds a lot crisper and louder.

Hope this helps anyone suffering from this, was driving me mad!
